A Progress Report on Agency Funded TMRs

February 28, 2019

For the past several years, the AASHTOWare Project Task Force (PTF) has been focusing available funding on needed enhancements in the web-based AASHTOWare Project software. At this point, the software is considered functionally complete. Knowing that many agencies are currently planning implementation projects, the PTF is now focusing available funding primarily on resolving maintenance TMRs (defects found outside the warranty period) and tech upgrades. Our AASHTOWare Project contractor, Info Tech, is obligated to fix warranty TMRs (defects found within the two-year warranty period), so funding is not an issue for warranty. Together, these TMRs will significantly improve the quality of the software.

The PTF will still consider funding select enhancements that receive ballot votes across multiple agencies or are deemed critical or urgent, but the majority of enhancements will need to be agency-funded.

The PTF appreciates those agencies that have already stepped forward to fund enhancements in AASHTOWare Project 4.2

AgencyEnhancement
NebraskaAPR-17286: Bid Based Pricing of Lump Sum Item Generating Invalid Price Error
MontanaAPR-18222: Add Ability to Add Multiple Items to a Single Acceptance Record on an Existing DWR
AlaskaAPR-18419: Provide the Ability to Pause and Resume Stockpile Reduction

We also want to thank Alaska, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, and New Mexico for funding enhancements in recent AASHTOWare Project releases.

The PTF additionally extends its appreciation to eleven agencies that have stepped forward to fund Data Analytics: Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, and West Virginia. The PTF is still looking for the twelfth and final agency to completely fund this effort.

The PTF also asks that agencies consider joining together to share the cost of potential enhancements. We ask that each functional area Technical Advisory Group (TAG) discuss this regularly in future meetings. After you leverage the TAG to build a funding consortium, contact your Account Manager to help navigate the proposal process. If your agency is not represented on a TAG, this is the perfect time to join. The TAG Application and TAG members list are available here.

For additional information, see the notice from the PTF sent to your agency’s End User Designee on March 26, 2018 regarding the AASHTOWare Project 4.2 Software Release and Potential to Fund Additional Enhancements. In that communication, the PTF reached out to member agencies asking them to consider funding enhancement TMRs. We also included a list of TMRs that the User Community indicated had merit in developing in the software sooner than current funding will provide, as well as information regarding the agency-funding process.
