The following Task Force product update is provided to keep all AASHTOWare Bridge Management (BrM) Software users apprised of recent activity related to the development of the software. The Task Force is committed to providing these quarterly updates to help improve communication between the Task Force and those interested in the product. The Task Force met in Boise, ID in June for our summer meeting. The following is a summary of the meeting.

Bridge Management 5.2.2
AASHTOWare BrM 5.2.2 is currently in beta testing. The Enterprise and Workstation versions of the software are being tested against both SQL and Oracle databases to thoroughly vet the release.
The upcoming BrM 5.2.2 release will include a significant change to the way that your data is stored in the software database. This is being done to standardize and simplify the database structure. Agencies that have customized their software based off of keys in the database will need to modify their customizations to instead use GUIDs. Depending on the amount of customizations made to your software installation, or dependencies from other systems that refer to the keys, migrating to support this change in BrM 5.2.2 may be a significant effort. Agencies have the ability to continue to use keys, however, legacy tables (COLUMNS) will no longer be supported.
The release of BrM 5.2.2 is still scheduled for late summer 2015.

Bridge Management 5.2.3

Requirements for the various enhancements to the software are being gathered by the TRTs and Functional Design Specification documents are being crafted from those requirements.

Update Your Ajax Uploader License Update Your Ajax Uploader License
The multimedia page within BrM relies on a third party control, Ajax Uploader. There was a bug in CuteSoft’s Enterprise license that ships with BrM which caused the control to expire. Each agency will need to copy a new license file, ajaxuploader.lic, to the bin folder of your BrM instance to resolve this issue. A zipped license file has been uploaded to the FTP server (/Pontis Release/Pontis Versions/BrM 5.2.1) for you. Should you need any assistance please contact Bentley using the information at the top of this email. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
National Tunnel Inspection Standards National Tunnel Inspection Standards
The Federal Highway Administration has released a final rule on the much anticipated National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS). AASHTO and the Task Force believe that BrM is well-suited to record and track National Tunnel Inventory data and are working on a plan for the inclusion of tunnels, and other asset types, into the software. In the meantime, an intermediate spreadsheet is being created to provide all agencies with a means of recording and submitting their inventory data. The intermediate spreadsheet will be available shortly after the release of the final rule and can be used to collect and report the inventory data that will be required to submit to FHWA within a few months of the rule. Spreadsheet data can later be conveniently uploaded to BrM.
Interested in Joining the Reporting TAG? Interested in Joining the Reporting TAG?
The Reporting TAG is being re-initiated to evaluate the default reports that currently exist within BrM and determine what reports should be included as part of future software releases.
These reports will be included as part of the BrM 5.2.3 release. Beckie Curtis (MDOT) has volunteered to lead this initiative. Anyone interested in becoming a part of this group should email Beckie at CurtisR4@michigan.gov.
