Iowa DOT’s Implementation of AASHTOWare Project Bids™

February 28, 2019

With the sun setting on AASHTOWare Project Expedite™, some agencies may be nervous about upgrading to AASHTOWare Project Bids. For those worried about the possibility of a lengthy or complex implementation process, rest easy; AASHTO’s partnership with Info Tech will provide you with the support you need to make the upgrading process smooth and tailored to your organization’s needs.

Recently, the Iowa Department of Transportation transitioned to AASHTOWare Project Bids. The Iowa DOT conversion began in April 2018, following a demo of AASHTOWare Project Bids’ capabilities. By the end of May 2018, Info Tech was able to convert the GEN.cfg and LOAD.cfg files into the new format for AASHTOWare Project Bids.

“Our implementation was very simple and required very little effort on the part of the Iowa DOT. Info Tech took our existing bid information and converted everything to the Bids system. We worked with them to develop the notices and to jointly distribute them on multiple fronts. Info Tech made the process very painless.”

- Mark Dunn, P.E. and Office Director of Iowa Department of Transportation

Since Iowa DOT’s transition to AASHTOWare Project Bids, the new paperless process of obtaining a digital ID has improved the timeliness of the ID approval process. Lettings are forging ahead strongly since the launch in November, with a total of 181 proposals and 723 submitted bids totaling approximately $1.19B.
