AASHTOWare Project Dashboards Overview

November 18, 2021

Get to know dashboard functionality in AASHTOWare Project

Are you using the new dashboard functionality in AASHTOWare Project? Introduced in the AASHTOWare Project 4.5 release, dashboards allow your agency to manage information, visualize data, and analyze patterns and trends to make informed business decisions. All you need to build your own dashboards is an Azure account configured for AASHTOWare Project and a Microsoft Power BI license. If you’re not already using Azure Active Directory for authentication, you can create an account here.

These tools will allow you to view sample dashboards and create new ones. Once you’re familiar with dashboarding tools, you’ll be able to:

  • Embed dashboards within the application
  • Configure any screen to display a dashboard or have one available from any menu
  • Create dashboards with real-time data or cached data for larger datasets

What’s Microsoft Power BI?

Microsoft Power BI is the dashboarding tool used by AASHTOWare Project. Created by Microsoft to allow users to create interactive data visualizations, Power BI has a simple, easy-to-learn interface. Using Power BI, agencies can create their own dashboards that display AASHTOWare Project data and data from other sources.

Current AASHTOWare Project Sample Dashboards

As of the AASHTOWare Project 4.6 release, there are three available sample dashboards in AASHTOWare Project:

  • AASHTOWare Project Preconstruction – Letting Dashboard: Displays bid, letting, and proposal data with filters for letting date ranges and workflow phases to get aggregated data on status, bidders, funding, and a map of proposal locations.
  • AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials – Contract Summary Dashboard: Displays information on a single contract with detail on items and funding, charts of item progress in dollars over time and stockpile dollars over time, and summary information on daily work reports, change orders, and payment estimates.
  • AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials – Change Order Dashboard: Displays change order information for a single contract, focusing on change order status, contract items, change order approval times, contract total over time, and contract time changes over time.

Upcoming AASHTOWare Project Dashboards

The following additional sample dashboards will release in AASHTOWare Project 4.7:

  • AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials – Contract Program Level Dashboard
