Task Force Membership Changes

June 27, 2023

AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design extends its gratitude to Clark Morrison for his dedicated six years of service on the Pavement ME Design Task Force. As Clark prepares to retire from the North Carolina DOT, we bid farewell to his invaluable presence as a task force member.

In his role as the Task Force Chair, Clark made a significant impact on the AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design software. Under Clark’s guidance, several updates were made to the Backcalculation Tool, Calibration Assistance Tool, and the release of the Pavement ME version 3.0 web application. He has given the group great leadership throughout maintaining and enhancing the pavement design software. We are very thankful for all the time and leadership that Clark has contributed to the Pavement ME Design software and wish him the best in his retirement!

With Clark Morrison departing from the task force, Hari Nair, P.E., Ph.D., VA, the current Vice Chair, will be taking over the Chair role, and Ian Rish, P.E., GA, the current task force member, will be taking over the role of Vice Chair. Both Hari and Ian have already made a positive impact on the pavement design software, and we are excited to see that impact continue to grow under their leadership.

We would also like to announce the addition of a new task force member, Jason Simmons. Jason is a registered professional civil engineer in the State of Utah. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. He has worked for the Utah Department of Transportation for over 20 years in various roles mostly in Materials and Pavements. He is currently the Statewide Pavement Engineer. In this position, he does a little bit of everything pavement, including pavement design, treatment selection, and specification coordination. He is responsible for setting pavement design and treatment selection policy for the Department as well as coordinating various specifications related to pavement. Please join us in welcoming Jason to the task force!
