Mobile Inspector Measure Service – First Integration Trimble

August 16, 2023

What is the Mobile Inspector Measure Service?

Mobile Inspector Measure Service is a tool that enables communication between the Infotech Mobile Inspector application and rovers, data collectors, and survey-grade applications such as Trimble Access™ and Trimble Siteworks. With the Mobile Inspector Measure Service, Trimble users can share exact GNSS rover measurements from Trimble devices to the Mobile Inspector application. This integration provides teams with the ability to merge precise and accurate location data with item inspection details to verify as-built models for civil infrastructure projects.

How does it work?

Using the Mobile Inspector application, an inspector selects an item on a project to be measured and sends a measure request through the Mobile Inspector Measure Service and into Trimble Access. The subsequent data from Trimble Access is then sent back to Mobile Inspector and synced with AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials™. The Mobile Inspector Measure Service integration process works similarly with Trimble Siteworks as well.

What are the benefits of using the Mobile Inspector Measure Service and Trimble Access integration?

This integration optimizes data collection, more quickly gathering geospatial field data to bring about accurate, dependable reports in the office. Through improving the transfer of Trimble GNSS rover data and syncing it across Trimble Access, Mobile Inspector, and AASHTOWare Project™ all at once, the Mobile Inspector Measure Service largely reduces the margin of error from manual entry. Users can remove the need to return to the office to enter data, which can reduce delays, resulting in an increase in productivity in the field. Inspectors are equipped with high-accuracy data to complete Daily Work Reports correctly and efficiently in the field. Trimble gathers geolocations from the site and provides more precise calculations, which leads to more accurate reporting, and that results in quicker, accurate payments to contractors.

Your team is also protected through the accurate data provided. Easy access to measured quantities makes it simple to audit how the quantity was delivered. A set of data files (JSON, .csv, etc.) are included with the measure request from Trimble, which serve as a digital receipt providing detailed information regarding everything captured, such as the date/time, type of measure request, contract item line number, and latitude/longitude, to name a few. With a database of accurate geospatial field data, users are able to resolve disputes easily and efficiently.

Utilizing the Mobile Inspector Measure Service provides a solid foundation for asset management with the most precise and accurate data possible through geospatial data transfer. Users can streamline their workflow, reduce data entry errors, and speed up the transfer of information to the office, all of which contribute to an increase in productivity and efficiency, and accelerates project delivery.

In the next release of Mobile Inspector, the universal integration API will allow use of the Mobile Inspector Measure Service with several other geospatial software vendors in addition to Trimble. AASHTOWare Project Users can access the Mobile Inspector Measure Service through the AASHTOWare Project Mobile Apps license, which also grants access to AASHTOWare Project Mobile Tester and Infotech Field Interviewer.
