FY25 PMED Q3 Enhancements

March 28, 2025

Q3 has flown by and with it a flurry of system and feature updates in the PMED suite of tools!

The development team has pushed 5 new updates to the production server, including an update with the new application domain https://aashtowarepavementme.org.

Don’t worry, navigating to https://pavementmedesign.com will redirect you to the new domain, but change over your links at your earliest convenience as we won’t hold on to the old domain name forever.

Feature updates:

  • Copy/paste is now implemented in all tables. Copy is available for tables that are read-only.
  • XLSX files are now unprotected by default. This should make editing them much easier.
  • The double letter appendices for NCHRP 1-37A have been resurrected and are available on the PMED website at https://aashtowarepavementme.org/MEDesign/Content/Documents under “Design Related Documents”.
  • UI consistency updates.
  • Users can now manage their tenants by removing themselves from tenants they wish to leave.
  • Sensitivity now runs through S3 buckets for performance and bulk processing efficiency.
  • We implemented an “update log” if you are bringing in legacy design files from previous application versions. The update log will tell you exactly what (if any) changes were applied to your design during the upload process.
  • BcT help manual is now available in the BcT web app directly in Bookdown format.
  • Default provider libraries are available. This allows tenant admins to set default data providers via a workspace for designs.
  • Tenant managers can now set up whitelist IP ranges.
  • Last save date and time is shown in the design header.
  • Validation limits have been added to special traffic.
  • 5 new “The Designer’s Corner” videos have been released and posted to the AASHTOWare YouTube site. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRrkQeKH76wZ-1uKZBS4ULEYSRJXwppmm.

Coming Soon:

  • Structure builder – Automated analysis path selection – The app will evaluate your proposed structure as it is generated and allow the user to select applicable analysis paths. In most cases, only a single analysis path is feasible and will be automatically
  • selected for the user. As this is a significant change to the current workflow, the feature will undergo some special review with the PMED task force. Assuming their approval of the final feature, we will demo the feature at the User Group Meeting and highlight it during a Q4 webinar.
  • CAT infrastructure improvements.
  • WASM client side Blazor app – We are going to try and get the analysis running locally in the browser. This would allow users to select between using the production server or their local machine for running analyses.
  • Library sharing/viewing component. This will allow tenant administrators to share their libraries (in a read-only/copy streams) with other tenants.
  • Default climate location defined by workspace.
  • UI chart for predicting PCC strength gain over time.

The development team continues to work on the APADS refactoring and continue to see improvements in the maintainability of the code as well as incremental performance improvements. Currently, the APADS runtime performance has improved by 14%! We have our eye on a 20% overall performance improvement in Q4.

The development and research teams continue to work hard on improving the software and would like to extend special thanks to our TRT members who are helping to guide the development of useful tools within the app.
