PMED v3.0 for designing JPCP and CRCP includes three major enhancements or updates

September 12, 2022

1. The product from NCHRP 1-51 on varying the interface friction between the PCC slab and the base layer was integrated into the web application (v3.0) but is not included in the desktop application (version 2.6).
2. All pavement design strategies (including rigid pavement designs) now use the MERRA-2 climate dataset which is automatically provided in the application through the AASHTOWare Data Integration Framework (ADIF). The web app accesses the MERRA-2 data set through the ADIF from the InfoPave website and pulls desired climatic data into your design with just a few clicks. This means that international clients now have ready access to detailed and accurate climate data across the globe for designing both flexible and rigid pavements. The desktop v2.5 and v2.6 still require use of the NARR climate dataset.
3. Additionally, the rigid pavement transfer functions were recalibrated at the global level.
