AASHTOWare Director Change

February 28, 2022

On January 3rd, Jan Edwards officially retired from AASHTO and Keith Platte was named the Director of AASHTOWare.

During Jan’s 32-year career at AASHTO, she spent her entire career working with the AASHTOWare program, with 22 years as Director. Under Jan’s leadership the AASHTOWare program saw exponential growth and became the preeminent suite of software products in the transportation industry.  She oversaw the evolution of this program into new areas and sought new ways of delivering AASHTOWare’s products, ensuring that the program retains it’s standing in the industry. She was a thought leader within AASHTO and provided outside the box ideas to address many challenges. Jan’s impact on the AASHTOWare program, and AASHTO as a whole, will be long lasting and we wish her well in retirement.

Her named replacement, Keith Platte first came to AASHTO in 2006 from Michigan DOT as a participant in the AASHTO Transportation Management Fellowship program. He began his AASHTO career in 2006 as a program manager in the Engineering division, then was promoted to Associate Program Director, Project Delivery; and most recently promoted to Associate Director for AASHTOWare in 2018. Throughout his long and accomplished AASHTO career, Keith has managed and overseen a number of committees and technical service programs.

Following in Jan’s footsteps, Keith will be responsible for the planning, execution, and management of resources, technology, and the team of professionals working in the AASHTOWare program. He will oversee strategic and long-range planning and budget development; direct the management of software development activities, including contract negotiation and administration; and provide oversight to the various AASHTOWare task forces.

Congrats Keith, and best of luck in your new position.
