AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker

May 27, 2025

Let’s start by refreshing your memories on what exactly AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker™ is all about. AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker is a tool designed to connect web-based AASHTOWare Project™ data at any phase—from design to completed project—to an asset ID. AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker maintains pay item data at the asset level, which the system rolls up to the total quantity items used by web-based AASHTOWare Project. Items in AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker are connected to web-based AASHTOWare Project cost estimate items, project items, or contract project items, depending on the stage of the project. Connecting pay items to an asset ID enables agencies to connect their AASHTOWare Project data to their asset inventory and geospatial database to ensure accurate data in an efficient manner.

The project is currently eleven months in and the team consisting of agency subject matter experts, PTF product owners, and Infotech® development resources are nearly complete with development. They utilize the hybrid agile development methodology and are currently on Sprint 20. AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker will be released July 1, 2025.

Updates to web-based AASHTOWare Project and AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker integration:

  • AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker will recognize the re-let process in AASHTOWare Project Preconstruction™ and connect the AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker design to the new project version.
  • Users can add an AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker design to a contract project that did not inherit a design from AASHTOWare Project Preconstruction.
  • Users can assign an asset to a daily work report item posting and view the remaining quantity assigned to the asset.
  • Agencies can map asset attributes from AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker to specified fields in the daily work report item posting.

New features in AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker:

  • System Settings: Administrators are granted access to an administration settings area, where agencies can configure AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker system-wide settings.
    • External APIs: Allows agencies to connect external data like published Esri layers in AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker to import asset information.
    • API Keys: Allows agencies to set up API connections in AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker, so that connections to external systems can communicate with AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker. This will allow Get, Post, Patch, and Delete functionality, so agencies can not only query data inside AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker, but they can also add, update, and delete data.
  • Import Assets: Users can import assets and their associated attributes from external API connections, allowing users to retrieve assets from existing asset inventories.

Here is an exciting glimpse into the potential of this application:

  • Figure 1 shows the Bulk Add Assets process, which allows users to add multiple assets to AASHTOWare Project Asset Tracker from an external API connection.
  • Figure 2 shows the asset assigned to the daily work report item posting and the remaining quantity associated to the asset.
  • Figure 3 shows the new modal window added to the daily work report item posting. This modal allows users to select an asset, then select one or more items to add to the daily work report item posting.
