AASHTOware Project Community Highlight

This quarter, we would like to highlight Adam Spitzley from the AASHTOWare Project Community. Adam has been a dedicated member of the State of Michigan Construction Delivery Team since March 2006. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in the development, testing, and implementation of the AASHTOWare Project system in Michigan.

From 2016 to 2022, Adam served as Assistant TAG Coordinator and later TAG Coordinator for the Construction Management Technical Advisory Group (TAG), demonstrating strong leadership and a deep commitment to collaboration. He also held key roles on the Project User Group (PUG) Board from 2019 to 2023, serving as Vice Chair, Chair, and Past Chair. These positions required a significant amount of time and effort, including preparing monthly TAG meetings and supporting the planning and facilitation of the annual PUG Conference.

Since 2020, Adam has served as Michigan’s End User Designee (EUD), where he ensures timely and accurate communication of AASHTOWare Project system updates to stakeholders across the state. He also coordinates license renewals and works closely with leadership to manage product improvements and ensure timely financial support for the system.

In addition to these responsibilities, Adam actively contributes as a member of the Materials TAG and Agency Views TAG. He has also participated in several Agile Enhancement Teams (AETs), helping to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the AASHTOWare Project system.

These experiences have been especially meaningful to Adam. His involvement in PUG Conferences has allowed him to build a strong network of peers, providing valuable insights and support that help Michigan continuously improve its use of the AASHTOWare Project system. Adam takes immense pride in his work and the positive impact it has on construction delivery across the state.

Outside of his technical expertise, Adam is known for his thoughtful approach, collaborative mindset, and willingness to mentor others. Whether he is troubleshooting a complex issue or sharing lessons learned from national conferences, Adam brings a steady, solutions-focused attitude to every challenge. His dedication to public service and passion for continuous improvement are evident in everything he does.
