AASHTOWare Project™ Field Interviewer mobile application
May 28, 2024The Field Interviewer mobile application is a convenient companion tool for the AASHTOWare Project Civil Rights & Labor™ (CRL) module, allowing entry of employee labor compliance (on-site Snoop Reports) interview data from mobile devices (iOS/Android).
Field Interviewer requires minimal training and works great on tablets and smartphones. You don’t need to be connected to the Internet at the time of data collection; Field Interviewer stores collected data to your device and submits that data to CRL once a secure connection is established.
The Field Interviewer application uses the SYNC Service to securely transfer data and connect to the AASHTOWare Project software. The app is available on Google and Apple Stores and is free to download.
Project Personnel and Compliance Officers can submit the data to the Compliance area of the CRL module to allow payroll managers and labor compliance analysts to review the data. As of the AASHTOWare Project 4.9 release, the system now compares data submitted on certified payroll to the information collected during the labor interviews and displays payroll exceptions when there are discrepancies.
Beginning July 1, 2024, Field Interviewer will be included in the CRL license fee, which includes the SYNC Service.
Discussion with Charles Groshens, Project Data Management Section Director at the Minnesota Department of Transportation provided some insight into their use of the Field Interviewer app:
How long has MnDOT been using the application?
“We have been testing the app since 2018 and finally rolled out to the project inspectors in 2023 after the enhancements to the system Compliance area and Payroll Exceptions in the 4.9 Release.”
What are the benefits of using the application for MnDOT’s staff?
“It provides an easy process for our Payroll Managers to ensure compliance with who was working on the project to who is reported on the payroll along with wage, hours worked, and classification comparison.”
How is the app helping streamline your processes?
“Prior to the Field Interviewer app and the upgrades in 4.9, the Payroll Manager would have to compare the Inspectors paper Snoop Reports to the payroll which would take time and effort. In addition, we will have additional metrics at the end of the 2024 construction season as we continue to train and roll out the app to all districts.”
