Accessing the New Infotech Mobile Inspector® PWA

February 25, 2021

In April of 2020, a new version of Infotech’s Mobile Inspector ® was launched as a Progressive Web Application (PWA).  Like AASHTOWare Project Mobile Tester™, Mobile Inspector® 2.1 is a web-based application developed to work on current Android, Apple, or Windows devices whether connected or offline and it no longer requires an app store or Google Play download. It still functions as the original Infotech Mobile Inspector application.

This new version of Mobile Inspector was designed to be intuitive and easy for first-time users. Additional benefits of the Mobile Inspector PWA include:

  • Acceptance Record functionality in the PWA version 2.0 and higher
  • Quicker update and enhancement rollouts
  • Updated and modernized aesthetics

Before you start checking out the new and improved Mobile Inspector, a few things to note:

  • You must be updated to AASHTOWare Project™ 4.1 (Patch 2), or higher to use the new Mobile Inspector PWA.
  • Acceptance records will only work with AASHTOWare Project™ 4.3or higher and the Mobile Inspector 2.0 bridge.

As part of the rollout of new PWAs and for the better support of multiple mobile applications, the Project Task Force (PTF) is simplifying the license structure for FY22. Starting in July 2021, the current SYNC Service licensing will be replaced with a new offering in the AASHTO Catalog – “AASHTOWare Project Mobile Applications License.” This new mobile applications license option will provide unlimited usage of all three AASHTOWare Project mobile applications (Mobile Inspector, Mobile Tester, and Field Interviewer) for a single license cost of $40,000.
