PUG Chair Corner

November 29, 2022

I am excited to introduce myself as the Chair of the AASHTOWare Project Users Groups Board.  I am honored to have been selected for this role and am looking forward to the year ahead.  I am the AASHTOWare Project Manager for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities and am responsible for our Department’s implementation of the software.  I have many years of experience with project management in the transportation industry and am hoping to make use of that experience in my role as PUG chair.

We had a wonderful turn out for the 2022 PUG conference in Nevada. It was great to see so many of you either in person for the first time or again after a couple years.  Many of you attended Technical Advisory Group sessions, training classes in AASHTOWare Project, and lightning sessions in the Infotech demo room.  Everywhere I went I saw people sharing their experience and ideas with counterparts from other states.  This exchange of ideas between people from all over the country is what the Project User Group is all about.  Be on the lookout for a survey in the next couple weeks related to your experience at the PUG.  We want to hear more about your Nevada conference experience as well as what you would like to see at the PUG conference in Idaho next year.

A new PUG Board was voted in at the conference.  I am pleased to announce that Amy Sullivan has been elected Vice Chair and Neal Cropper as Secretary.  I want to thank Kathy Terrio for all her work as PUG Chair this last year as she moves to the Past Chair role along with Adam Spitzley who is leaving the role of Past Chair.  It wasn’t until after the PUG conference was complete that we received a nomination for Treasurer.  Based on our bylaws, a vacant position can be appointed by the PUG Chair and I am happy to announce the appointment of James Kocaba to the role of Treasurer.

If you would like more information on what was discussed at the PUG conference you can find the information about resolutions, conference presentations and the PUG ballot here: https://www.aashtowareproject.org/pug#  There is always new content on the Forum which you can find here: https://forum.aashtowareproject.org/

PUG Ballot voting is open from 11/1/22 – 11/18/22.  Be sure to work with your EUD and make your agencies voice heard.

The PUG board is here to represent you.  If you have ideas on how the PUG can be of better service to you and your transportation department we would love to hear from you.  Feel free to reach out to any of the board members with your ideas.

Regards,

Christine Langley
