PUG Corner

Wow. Time is certainly moving a long and it is already time for the next PUG Corner article. I hope that you all had a great holiday season. I hope everyone was able to spend time with loved ones and was able to get some rest and relaxation. During the hustle and bustle of winter, the PUG Board has been busy these last couple months.

Since the last article, we have continued catching up on the post-election duties that entail getting permissions and access to the new members of the PUG Board. Now that the new advisors are settled in, they have been doing a great job with attending the Technical Advisory Group monthly meetings, disseminating information out to the community while collecting information from the TAG’s and reporting it back to the Board. The Advisors have been providing valuable insight, suggestions, and advice to the other members of the Board and they have been a great addition to the team. The increase in communication between the TAG’s and the PUG Board has been very beneficial and I continue to look forward to hearing their feedback.

TEA/PUG, Inc.

2025 heralded in the end of a long running partnership between the Transportation Estimators Association and the AASHTOWare Project Users Group. The Transportation Estimators Association chose to amicably part ways with the Project User Group as there was no longer a need to have a nonprofit organization to assist with the coordination of our respective annual conferences. This was beneficial to both of our groups as it simplified the complexity of having to coordinate two different conferences to occur near the same time and in the same location. With that being said, the nonprofit organization, TEA/PUG, Inc., has been officially dissolved. While we are sad to see them go, the Project Users Group collectively wishes them the best in their future endeavors.

PUG Ballot

At the time of writing the PUG Corner article for November, the PUG Ballot voting process was just coming to a completion. The results were tallied and compiled and the final votes from each agency can be found at the following link: PUG Ballot Results. We continue to see many innovative enhancement requests, along with the expected wily bugs, and urge everyone to submit your ideas and issues in order to ensure that AASHTOWare Project development can continue to be the best platform for Highways Construction Management.

PUG Conference

Planning for the 2025 PUG Conference is in full swing. A very rough draft agenda has been started, and we are already looking at what topics and demos we can provide to make this the best conference for all of you. We are constantly gathering feedback from various sources to determine the best format for the conference to continue providing the best experience for all. Michelle Beauboeuf, AASHTO meeting planner, has already been hard at work ensuring that everything goes smooth, and we greatly appreciate her expertise and attention to detail. As we continue to draw closer to the 2025 PUG Conference, keep an eye for more communication in the future. In the meantime, we hope that representatives from all licensed agencies will be able to meet with us in Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 26 – Oct. 30, 2025.

If you have any suggestions for topics or lightning demos that you or your agency would like to see at the 2025 PUG Conference, then please contact a PUG Board member. As always, on behalf of the PUG Board, we look forward to hearing from all of you and cannot wait to see you all at the 2025 PUG Conference in Ohio.

Respectfully,

Ken Sereduk

PUG Board Chairman
