Spotlight on Community Involvement – Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
May 28, 2024Every AASHTOWare Project module has a dedicated Technical Advisory Group (TAG) that meets on a regular basis. Some of the duties of the TAG Coordinator are conducting TAG meetings, directing the development of the TAG’s goals, and ensuring each the modules ballot items are reviewed and prioritized for enhancement and implementation.
Each TAG has a Coordinator and Co-Coordinator. This position serves a two-year term with a maximum of two consecutive terms. The position is elected by the members of the TAG.
James Kocaba, Connecticut Department of Transportation, Estimation TAG Co-Coordinator and current PUG Board Treasurer.
“My experience as Coordinator for the Estimation TAG has been extremely valuable. TAG coordinators are actively engaged with planning monthly agendas, including TMR enhancement reviews, live demonstrations, and annual top ten ballot selections. Working directly with the software developer subject matter experts and TAG members has been extremely rewarding in many ways. The TAG coordinator role has an impact on the direction of the software as well as provided me a deeper understanding of the user community and Estimation module’s functionality.”
Interested in becoming a TAG Coordinator? There are numerous people who would be happy to discuss the position with you such as current TAG Coordinators, PUG Board members and the Project Task Force members, many of which were Coordinators before joining the Task Force.
