Prismatic Legacy Award December 2022

February 22, 2023

This year, to recognize the impact our volunteers have made, AASHTOWare has decided to create the Prismatic Legacy Award. This award will be given tri-annually to one volunteer across all the AASHTOWare products to show our appreciation for everything they do for AASHTOWare.

We would like to recognize Christine Langley from Alaska DOT & PF (Department of Transportation and Public Facilities) as the first Prismatic Legacy Award Winner. Christine was nominated by her peers for her contributions as Chair of the Project User Group and the Materials Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Coordinator. She has been recognized by many as a great addition to the AASHTOWare community and we are thankful for the impact she has made not only on the software suite, but the volunteer community. While Christine is relatively new to the AASHTOWare Project community, she has jumped right in and given valued leadership to those around her. She said she enjoys getting to know the people and other agencies at AASHTOWare, and that the connections that are made at meetings give the software a more personal aspect that helps encourage fellow agencies and share knowledge to help further the growth at each DOT.

While many AASHTOWare volunteers are active in their product groups, we recognize that their involvement is not always easy to balance with their regular workload. Christine said this was a challenge that she faced when first volunteering but that her agency is supportive of her time volunteering for AASHTOWare and the knowledge she has gained from hearing other agencies experiences with AASHTOWare Project has helped her in using the software for her own agency. She had great advice for anyone who is considering volunteering; “There are many ways to get involved. You can pick the group for you based on your time requirements. There are smaller roles that are still important for those that don’t have as much time but still want to volunteer.” So, if you have thought about volunteering, reach out and see what can fit in your schedule.

AASHTOWare is very thankful for all our volunteers. We hope that we can recognize many others like Christine that have made an impact throughout the next few years with this award.
